Lipa na Mpesa Payments Settings


Echo Mobile currently supports integration with Lipa na Mpesa( Buy goods for Customer to Business (C2B) payments) through Kopo Kopo. With this integration, engagements and conversations can be started based on payment made to your till number or buy goods number.

How can this feature best work for you?

Start Engagements when a Payments are made to the Till/Buy Goods Number

If your contacts are actively making payments to your till number, with the Kopo Kopo integration you can send out a survey, quiz or notice based on the type of engagement you would like to facilitate. To set this up, do the following:
  1. Navigate to the desired group where contacts making payments are registered or where you would like them to register into.
  2. Under Group settings, select "Payments"
  3. You can then choose what value of the transaction you would like to store or hold in a contact custom field (total payments to date or most recent pay)
  4. You can create a custom field that would hold the desired payment value e.g. Balance or Amount.
  5. In order for an action to take place once a payment is made, add scenario e.g [AMOUNT]  > 100
  6. Then choose the desired call to action for an example a Go To Survey/Notice  and select the desired survey or notice so that a Survey or Notice is triggered each time a payment is made and the scenario condition is met.
  7. You can the view the translations each contact has made to date by clicking on “Transactions” under More Tab in a Contact’s profile.
  8. Alternatively you can generate a report of all the payment transactions by going to the report list.

Keep Track of payments when Contact makes an Order

If you are using surveys to take orders from your contacts and you would like to keep track of the payments made based on their orders; with this with the Kopo Kopo integration you can update a custom field that will be part of the contact's profile and use this value in current and future engagements. To set this up, do the following:
  1. Create Custom field that would hold the desired payment value e.g. Balance or Amount
  2. Create a survey that will capture contact’s order and the amount owed. Ensure that amount owed is being captured in the said custom field. 
  3. Go to Group tab, click on the desired group(the group where contacts making orders are registered/register).
  4. Under Settings, click on "Payments"
  5. Under Contact field to Update, you will see the option to select contact field to update. This should be the same field created when contact places an order. *You can set its initial value to 0 in the survey advanced logic.
  6. You can the view the translations each contact has made to date by clicking on “Transactions” under More Tab in a Contact’s profile.
  7. Alternatively you can generate a report of all the payment transactions by going to the report list.
It is important to note that once the Kopo Kopo Integration is up an running on your account, all payments made by contacts to the till number will be picked by the platform and the contacts will be added into your organization account on Echo Mobile.
  • If a group has payments group settings configured, the contacts will be added into this group
  • If no payments settings have been configured set up, the contacts will be added into the  default group.  As this not a "self-registration" the contacts will only recieve the engagement set up under payment settings and will not recieve registration & response engagement
