Add Serials for a Product

A serial number is a unique number used for identification and inventory purposes. A serial number allows a company to identify a product and get additional information about it, for replacement, or as a means of finding compatible parts.

You add serials to a product by manually adding a serial, via upload using a batch file and upload via email.

Manually Adding a Serial

To add manually a new serial, do the following:

  1. From the Left hand menu, navigate to More
  2. Click on “Products”
  3. This will open up the Products List window.
  4. Click on the desired product
  5. Under the selected product, click on "Serials". This will open up the Serials List window 
  6.  Click on the Add icon   to load the Serial Add options.
  7. Click on "Add One Serial". Here you are able to manually add serials of a product by keying in the serial codes. Keep in mind the serial code format you would have defined when creating the product

Adding Serials via a Batch Upload

To add serials via an upload file, do the following:

  1. From the Left hand menu, navigate to More
  2. Click on “Products”
  3. This will open up the Products List window.
  4. Click on the desired product
  5. Under the selected product, click on "Serials". This will open up the Serials List window 
  6.  Click on the Add icon  to load the Serial Add options.
  7. Click on "Upload Serial Batch" Here you can be able to upload a batch of serials using a .CSV or .XLS file populated with serial code data. The serial upload file have one column with header “ID” and up to 5 extra columns holding specific product attributes e.g
    • DATE_SHIPPED
    • DISTRIBUTOR
    • EXPIRY_DATE
  8. Once the Serial Batch Upload file has been populated, save the file and upload it.

Adding Serials via an Email Upload

  1. From the Left hand menu, navigate to More
  2. Click on “Products”
  3. This will open up the Products List window.
  4. Click on the desired product
  5. Under the selected product, click on "Serials". This will open up the Serials List window 
  6.  Click on the Add icon  to load the Serial Add options.
  7. Click on "Upload Serial Batch" Here you can be able to upload a batch of serials using a .CSV or .XLS file populated with serial code data. The serial upload file have one column with header “ID” and up to 5 extra columns holding specific product attributes.
  8. Once the Serial Batch Upload file has been populated, save the file.
  9. Under the Manage Serials window,  hover your mouse on “More” on the top right  and additional serials options will pop up.
  10.  Click on "Show Upload Email". Here you will provided with instructions on how to uploading serial batch file via email.
