Contact Analysis

Contact analysis lets you visualize your contacts as they get added into your account. You can quickly and efficiently pull your contacts' data into charts broken down by the information you have on them e.g gender, county, preferred language.


Where to Find It?

To access contact analysis, follow the steps below:
  1. From the Left-hand menu, click on “Analytics”
  2. Click on “Contact Analysis” in the sub-menu
  3. This will open up the contact analysis with a chart will be plotted over time based on the contact’s creation date
By default the chart show contacts over time - this when contacts were added into a group. You can create contacts through manual entry, upload, referral and field agent data collection or an API integration

Customize Your Chart

You can customize the chart by selecting a desired date range e.g in the last hour, last 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, etc. or switch the chart from a bar chart to a line graph.
To customize your chart, do the following:
  1. Click on “Date Range”. Select your desired date range from the drop-down.
  2. Click on “Show By”. Select a time unit from the drop-down. Split the date range of the charts into hours, days, or weeks, quarters or months.
  3. Click on “EDIT CHART” and select a chart type to switch from a line or bar graph.

Add Breakdowns

Over time, as a result of mobile communications with your contacts through the Echo platform, you build up a lot of information about them that is stored as fields and labels. You can now slice and split out your contact based on this information.
  1. Do you have questions like....
    1. How many contacts registered over the last 30 days?
    2. Across all our contacts, how many visited the Nairobi branch, and how many visited the Dar-es-Salaam branch?
    3. What’s the gender breakdown of contacts who registered in the last 12 months?

Contact analysis can generate and quickly download charts and graphs that help answer these questions for you. You can breakdown the chart by a field, a label, a group, opt-out and time. Contact analysis allow for break down of contacts by text field type and cannot breakdown by date and numbers field type.
To add a breakdown property, do the following:
  1. Click on “EDIT CHART” and click on "ADD BREAKDOWN"
  2. Select a group, label, custom field or opt-out and the breakdown will be automatically added to the graph
  3. Click "up" or "down" arrows to reorder them.

Download Charts

You can also share contact analysis charts with your team or to your important stakeholders . To download the contact analysis chart as images, do the following:
  1. Click on “More Options” and then “Download Image”.
  2. Edit the preview in Edit mode by adding in a title.
  3. Switch to view mode to have a look at the final chart once you download it.
  4. If you want to have your images with a transparent background so that you can add this to your presentations, hold the shift button on your keyboard and click on download.

Add to Dashboards

You can contact analysis charts to existing dashboards. Once you have applied your date range and breakdowns, add the chart to existing dashboards to enhance your visualizations. To add the chart to dashboards, do the following:
  1. To add your chart to a dashboard, do the following:
  2. Click on “More Options” and then “Add to Dashboard”.
  3. Choose the existing dashboard you would prefer and the chart will quickly be added into it.
