Creating a Coupon

A coupon is a a voucher entitling the holder to a discount for a particular product or service.  You can send coupons via SMS for discounted products or services to redeem on-site. Stores can also validate and check-off used coupons via SMS.

Create a Coupon

In the Echo Platform, you can create your code through a coupon. A coupon allows you to define and design your voucher to meet your goals or marketing needs.
To create a coupon, do the following:
  1. From the Left-hand menu, navigate to More
  2. Click on “Coupons”
  3. In the Coupons page, click on ‘New’.
  4. Once you have captured the desired coupon details, click on “Create”.

Basic Coupon Settings

In the Coupon Editor, you can be able to edit the basic settings coupon. These are basic setting that one should apply when creating a coupon:
  1. Keyword: Here you can capture the name of the coupon. This could tie into the name of the promotion/product or service you are creating the coupon for. 
  2. Code Prefix: You can set up a prefix code that will be automatically appended to the coupon codes that are generated. If set, it forces the 1-2 characters of the generated code to match the specified prefix
  3. Code length: This is the length (no. of characters) of the coupon code
  4. Expiration Hours: This is the validity period of the coupon after which it expires.
  5. Allow Multiple: This allows multiple sends of codes of the said coupons to be sent out to the same contact or customer
  6. Once you have captured the desired coupon details, click on “Create”.

Coupon Redemption Settings

Now that you have your coupon, you can set up how the coupon code will be redeemed, who can redeem the coupon and what reward is tied to the coupon once it redeemed

Coupon Redemption Control

  1. Code Redemption Limit:  You can specify the redemption limit of the coupon code. If you would like the coupon code to be only redeemed once, the limit will be set to '1'.When checked, Allow.
  2. Redeemable By:  You can set which type of customer you would like to redeem the coupon
  3. Enable Redemption via Message: This is the standard coupon redemption method where the contact sends a message like ABCDE to redeem the coupon code
  4. Enable Redemption via Survey Question: This is a coupon redemption method where the coupon is redeemed via a Survey. For this action, create a survey question and set it's action to "Coupon Lookup"
  5. Allow Multiple redemption: Will allow the code to be redeemed multiple times by the same redeemer.

Redemption Actions

These are actions/communications that will go out once coupon code is redeemed.

Recipient Actions

  1. Recipient Success Message:  If code is redeemed by someone other than the original recipient, send a message to the recipient. This message can contain[CODE], [RECIPIENT], [REDEEMER] and [REDEMPTION] variables.
  2. Code exhausted message: If the redeemer redeems the coupon codes more times than the redemption limit set, you can send a message to the recipient. If set, this message will come before the success message for the recipient.
  3. Incentive: Set a payments or airtime incentive that will go out to the recipient once the coupon is redeemed

Redeemer Actions

  1. Redeemer Success Survey/Notice: If code is redeemed by someone other than the original recipient, send a message to the redeemer.
  2. Incentive: Set a payments or airtime incentive that will go out to the recipient once the coupon is redeemed
